decrease in the demand for shampoo

You can only guess at what might happen to the demand for conditioner as a result, but at the very basic level only the shampoo is affected. If the price of shampoo increased by 44% next year, there would be a ___________ in the ________________ .?
This is a trick question.

The statement say ';price of shampoo increased by 44% next year.'; That means that there would be an INCREASE in the DEMAND for SHAMPOO ';this'; year because people want to get cheap shampoo now. Since that's not an answer you have to look at the other choices.

Logically, four answers deal with conditioner so conditioner has to be an answer. You have to think is shampoo and conditioner a substitute or a complement. My guess it is a complement.

So if it a complement then as the price of shampoo goes up so will conditioner. So people in the now would want to get cheap conditioner. So there would be an INCREASE in the demand for conditioner.
....there would be a very long line in the Dollar Store!
people will get shorter hair. cheaper alternatives will come to market. a bottle of shampoo cost around 4-5 bucks a bottle. so its would be like 6-7 bucks a bottle. china would jump on in and sell at 4 bucks. economics has no alternatives, that is why i believe its a total waste of time and money to take such course because they confine everything to those laws of economic, and well i guess if they broke the law the whole idea of economics will go out the window.
Bad smell in the wind.
