Why is it that practically everything (from milk to shampoo to vegetables)and other stuff went up in price?

Whenever the price of oil increases, everything else does. Shipping charges are blamed for increases in everything. Of course when the price of oil goes down, the shipping charges don't decrease, so prices on all commodities remain higher.Why is it that practically everything (from milk to shampoo to vegetables)and other stuff went up in price?

Well, as oil prices jump, so does the cost of transporting goods. This in turn causes the companies to charge more on the products so that they can make the same amount of profit. There are more reasons, but everything in the economy depends on everything else. Think about it. :)
